Choosing The Contractor That is Right For You

I have been asked many times how I am able to sell almost every one I meet. When I started in this business many years ago I could not figure out why some people decided to go with my company and some not. Why didn't they see that my company was a great company to do business with?

After some thought I went back and asked some of my old clients if they remember what it was that I said or did that made them choose me? Was there any one thing that stuck out that made them decide for me and not some one else.

I was suprised at the responce that I got! It was an overwhelming victory for:

"We went with you because, we wanted some one we could trust to take control"

Trust and Control

Notice that there is an order to this, trust comes first then you get to control. I was, and still am all about controling the process all they way to the final payment. I go through remodeling jobs every single day, whereas my client does one or two in a life time. Who is more experianced? Who knows how to avoid pitfalls? Me or the inexperianced client?

My clients were happier people, they were satisfied with my work and never complained about my pricing. They always paid on time too!

It wasn't always like this for every client though, in the beginning I would be so desperate for a job that I would sign up people who wanted all the control. Every single one of those jobs ended up being a complete nightmare all the way to the end. I would have to give away free upgrades, lower the cost, mow the yard to get those people to sign up. The client was never happy with the work, even though it was top quality, they find reasons to complain in order to delay payment.
